How does this fit into my busy teaching schedule ?
There are four short lessons per week on a given topic, lasting approximately 20 minutes each. A typical teaching week will look like this:
– Day 1 : introduction; short dictation
– Day 2 : review and continuation of this week’s topic; structured oral language activity
– Day 3 : review and continuation of this week’s topic; workbook activity
– Day 4 : review this week’s topic; record this week’s learning in verb booklets for future reference
The program covers 30 weeks of instruction.
What makes Succès syntaxique unique ?
This program is designed to remove the guesswork when it comes to language instruction. Our carefully constructed Scope and Sequence gives you and your students a path to follow throughout the year, gradually consolidating and building on what was previously taught.
To reduce cognitive load, our innovative scope and sequence is organized around verb subjects rather than the verbs themselves. In Modules 1 and 2, students work with the personal subject pronouns ‘je’ and ‘tu,’ learning that many of these verbs have the same ending: je/tu lis, bois, fais, viens, prends, etc. Guided speaking and writing activities feel organic, as students are able to ask and answer questions about a common person or group of people.
In Module 3, students learn more about the pronouns ‘elle’ and ‘il’–they can represent, people, animals and even objects–as well as the non-binary pronoun ‘iel.’ This knowledge is extended in Module 4, when students work with the pronouns ‘ils’ and ‘elles.’ Finally, in Module 5, students practice using the pronouns ‘nous’ and ‘vous’ in speaking and writing.
